Southerns Scholarship Foundation provides free housing to awardees

Southern Scholarship Foundation Scholarships

The only thing more expensive than going to college, is living at the college you attend. The average student loan debt per graduate was $38000 ( resource: http://www.debt.org/students)in 2017. A number, in and of itself, large, yet when combined with unreasonable loan terms, and compounding interest as a penalty for late payments, is creating a debt lifestyle for most graduates.

So when an opportunity arises that provides free housing /rent, it is worth making some time to check out, and stay on top of the deadlines it lists, like the following scholarship, called the Southern Scholarship Foundation scholarships, for over fifty years, the Southern Scholarship Foundation has helped thousands of students with outstanding academic abilities, good character and financial need realize their dream of a college education.

Qualified students attending Florida State University, Florida A&M University, the University of Florida, Tallahassee Community College, Santa Fe College, and Florida Gulf Coast University are awarded scholarships in the form of rent-free housing which can be renewed yearly as long as you stay off academic or conduct probation, and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

For all students that currently have a housing arrangement on campus, in the dorms, you'll be happy to know all the campuses that the Southern Scholarship Foundation is partners with If selected for a scholarship, most housing departments will release you of your dorm contract with proof of acceptance into SSF.

They also allow you to stay during the summer if you'd like, but only on a first come first serve basis, check with the foundations website for more information on the terms of that topic.

Once accepted to a SSF house you'll be required to pay a $300 reservation fee, of which $150 will be refunded to you when you leave (in good standing of course).

You then must also pay a $300 Food & Service Bill deposit at move in. The semester Food & Service Bill averages $950 per semester. The semester Food & Service Bill includes all food, utilities, cable, laundry, parking, wireless internet, fire monitoring, and maintenance.Which is a fraction of the cost of all those services and a food plan on campus, and more importantly, you will not have the cost to live on campus hanging over your head after graduation.

All of these fees can be paid with your financial aid, as well as with other scholarship money. Youll need to check with the website once again for all the conditions regarding this topic, as well.

Below Ive taken from the site an excerpt to display the required deadlines for each semster. Definitely check the foundations website out, its a great opportunity.
